Moses warned Israel in Deut. 6:12, "Then beware, lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage." We might think it should be impossible for a people for whom God did so much, to forget their God. However, both the books of Exodus and Numbers show just how many times they forgot God. The prophet wrote in Jer. 2:32, "Yet My people have forgotten Me days without number."
We are tempted to say we would never forget God. However, in our buys world, we can lose sight of God as well. We may not be as deliberate as Israel, but we can become so busy we forget what is most important.
So, how do we make sure we do not forget God? First, study His word. Second, speak with Him often in prayer. Third, be sure to assemble with the saints to praise Him. Fourth, be thankful for all the amazing things He does. Finally, serve Him with a grateful heart.
