One of the purposes for Jesus coming into the world was to give light. We read in John 1:9, "That was the true light which gives light to every man who comes into the world." The light Jesus provides is offered to everyone who is born. Yet, not everyone will accept Christ's light. We read in John 3:20, "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed." People trapped by sin do not like Christ's light because it exposes them for what they really are--lost sinners. In our post-modern world, it is not politically correct to expose the sin in people's lives. But that is just what Jesus came to do. If one is not convicted by their sins, they will never turn from them. However, if people will see Jesus's light, they will see how far from God they are, and hopefully turn to Christ. Trying to make everyone feel good about who they are was not God's plan. It was to expose their evil deeds so they would turn from them.
