During His ministry, Jesus fed the five thousands, the four thousand, and healed the multitudes. Where did they all go after His resurrection? There were only about 120 gathered together in Jerusalem faithfully waiting (Acts 1:15). What happened to the rest?
Some may have among the 3000 on Pentecost or the 5000 later (Ac. 2:41, 4:4). But others only took advantage of what Jesus did for them. Jesus said in Jn 6:26. "Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled." Too often, what was true then is true today. People will only follow Jesus if they think He can do something for them here and now.
Jesus does do much for us today. He still saves. He mediates for Christians to God. Jesus will return and call His own. So why do people fail to see this? Because, like the Jews of Jesus's day, they only see the physical. May we also see the spiritual.
