After 70 Years in exile, the people of Israel were hungry for the word of God. We read in Nem. 8:1, "Now all the people gathered together as one man in the open square that was in front of the Water Gate, and they told Ezra the scribe to bring the Book of the Law of Moses, which the Lord commanded Israel." Ezra read from morning to noon, and the people were attentive. This went on for days.
I wish people loved God's word that much today. I wish we could get more to come to Gospel meetings to hear the word preached. But people today are busy, and many do not see the need for God's word.
Perhaps, if Christians would demonstrate a greater love for God's word, we could encourage others. Today through Wednesday you have a chance to demonstrate your love for God's word. I hope you will be here for every service.
