Paul wrote to Timothy in 2 Tim. 1:7, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." Paul wanted the young preacher to be bold in presenting the Gospel. Timothy has a message the world needed, and fearfulness would not get the job done.
Earlier, Peter and John were bold in their presentation of the Gospel. We read in Ac 4:13, "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John..." The Sandhedren threatened them, so they prayed, "...that with all boldness they may spread Your word," (Ac. 4:29) and they were able to do so (Ac 4:31).
Our world today needs to boldly hear the Gospel of Christ. Christians need to speak out about the salvation Jesus brought. This is not a time to be timid. People need to know the truth before it is too late. We have the greatest message of all times, and keeping it to ourselves is not what Christ wants.
As those of the first century, let us from our conviction, tell others about Jesus.
